February 28, 2007

Here comes March already. Does time start to move faster the older you get? It seems to. I remember when I was little and grown ups would say "the older you get, the faster time goes" Now I believe them. The trip planning has begun. It won't be long before they're here to pick up the mini & our household goods. Didn't we just do this? When you move to Alaska you have to winterize your cars. This includes warming blankets, batteries you can plug in (or something like that) and who knows what else. Just add it to the to do list. We've started the search for our next house online and Dawnene set us up with an agent named Jewel in Alaska. This should be interesting. I will make sure we have an extra bedroom for anyone that might feel adventurous and come see us. Have a great day & keep in touch.

February 15, 2007

Nater sent me this pic of Dad at Powder Mountain. Sounds like fun. I'm jealous. I would love to be on the mountain with "the boys", fluffy snow flying in my face. Sigh........ What do you think the snow will be like in Alaska? I imagine it will resemble Ice Skating down a very, very steep hill. I've heard there is skiing right on post. We'll see. Can you believe Bill tried talking me into selling my Snowboard when we moved to South Carolina? You won't need it for a very long time he said. I think that was his way of telling me I won't be going home every time there is a Powder Day. Glad I didn't sell it now. HA!

We found out The Army will move one of our cars for us. What a relief! I wasn't looking forward to driving from South Carolina to Alaska separately (I've fallen asleep while driving in the past) see my Dad for further details. We put a for sale sign on the Murano about a month or so ago. We watched the movie Inconvenient Truth (Everyone needs to see this movie) and decided buying a hybrid would be one way for us to help minimize our contribution to Global Warming. We really like the Honda Civic Hybrid, but now that we're headed for Alaska a 4x4 seems more logical. Unfortunately, 4x4 and environmentally friendly don't necessarily go hand & hand, so who knows what we'll do. We are just happy to be headed to Alaska. Smile.

I've attached a picture of the view from my office for those of you who haven't seen it yet. I took the pic with my phone so it's not the greatest quality but you get the point. Downtown Columbia is a great town. The streets are lined with brick patterns. You'll find giant old clocks on street corners. I'll bring my camera to work so while I'm out walking on my lunch I can snap pictures to show all of you.

More on Alaska

Last week the Army gave us a list to choose from for our next assignment. From the list we gave "them" our top three choices..........
  1. Alaska
  2. Korea
  3. Texas

We found out days later we will be going to ALASKA! As you can imagine, we are extremely excited. Alaska is on our dream list of places to be stationed. As this point, it's almost too good to be true. We're keeping our fingers crossed that nothing comes up to divert us. Bill is in school until April 19, 2007 and from there we will be begin the next chapter of our book.

I've been working in the Foreclosure Department at a Law Firm in downtown Columbia. My office is on the 18th floor and literally overlooks the State Capital. What more can I say?

The link below is in Fairbanks where we'll be going.

Happy Ground Hog Day!

Lasted? Wow, that's what I get for blogging at 5:00am in the morning. Anyway, things are good. Life is good. My Mom is in DC standing up for Peace! My husband just brought our Cody home for the weekend, and I just spent sometime on the phone with my Daddy. To top it all off......We found out where we will be headed from here. More on that next time.
