Alaska News.......

It's supposed to hit 40 below tonight with wind chill. Anyone up for a bbq? NOT!

I saw a BUSH CHENEY 04' bumper sticker the other day. Why someone would still have that on their car is beyond me. Are they really still proud of the fact they voted for him? I suppose some are. Whatever.

I also saw my first Sarah look alike. Standing in line at Freddy's. She seriously could have doubled for her. Weird.

It seems Senator Steven's will be missed by many. They say he has been a large part of Alaska's positive changes for over 50 years. What do you think?

I hear gas just dropped under $2.00 in the lower 48. Still almost $3.00 here. Would someone mind telling whoever is in charge up here about the change please. Thank you.

On that note. The gas guy will be filling our tank today. Our 1000 gallon tank that supplies the fuel to heat our house. Can't wait to see that invoice.

Just a quick visit to Santa's workshop

Santa's workshop is about a 10 minute drive for us. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus weren't there this day so Fisher got to play Santa. We've decided to not mislead Fisher into believing in Santa, Easter bunny etc. but, I wonder what the concequences are for this. Is it better to believe and find out later the magic never existed or be given the truth and never believe the magic? Either way, I couldn't pass up the photo op living in North Pole and everything.

Say goodbye to my baby vessel

I've officially started my South Beach diet last Friday. For those of you that don't know how this works I will give you a little run down. The first two weeks are to jump start your metabolism and teach your body to burn fat instead of sugars and starch. Basically, my diet consists of salads, veggies, lean meats & fish, low fat cheese, water, tea, V8. Low sugar, low carb. Unlike the Atkins diet, I can reintroduce carbs after the first 2 weeks but it will be moderate and whole grains. I hate the word diet but with reading the South Beach book I've realize it basically teaches you how to eat right for long term heart health.

So I started this thing, and so far so good until yesterday. I made the mistake of heading into Super Walmart on an empty stomach. I was doing pretty good. Only putting stuff in my cart that was healthy for me, until..... I hit the holiday candy isle. Bill asked me to send him Christmas candy for the stockings he's making for his soldiers. Well long story short, I ripped open a box of chocolate covered marshmallow rice crispy treats and DEVOURED them. To any on looker I'm sure I looked hideous, but I didn't care. That was the best damn chocolate covered love I've ever experienced.

After that I went and had lunch and I didn't have the best lunch because well I had already ruined my diet for the day anyways so I had bbq chips and chili. Hey I figured I might as well. After all, it was a window of opportunity.

So today I've started over. I think I'm good to go. I'll keep you posted.

My starting weight 180lbs.

Utah

This is the perfect picture to show you from the trip to Utah because Fisher went through so many changes in the short month we were there. From crawling to standing, clapping & peek a boo, he conquered many milestones. He's amazing and having most of my family and friends meet him made it even more real for me.

This time the trip home was far from a vacation. The rental proved to be a pain in the arrssss, but it's finally rented. This was harder than I expected. Not kidding, 3out of 4 applicants were felons. Mommy can we move to Ogden?

Also, Wendy experienced her very own, very serious Angelic Intervention to keep her from going back to work. Uncle Jim had an interesting tour of Ogden at 3:00am and a false alarm of Meningitis. I spoke to him through a mask and rubber gloves for three days. Turned out to be a sinus infection, I think. Another very good friend, Gail has cancer in her back and it's causing her nerves that run down her leg to cause her very intense pain. She remains as beautiful as I've ever seen her, but she's now in a wheelchair. Some of you know her, and you're lucky for that. She's like no other. I'm thankful for seeing her and saying goodbye proved to be too much because I extended my stay another week just to see her again.

So a week later, the night I left, I decided I needed one last fix of Taco Taco. Jim, his daughters and their Mom Debbie came with me. Unfortunately, Debbie had a stroke during dinner. Seriously.

With everything that transpired I was almost convinced I wasn't meant to leave, but instead, I ran like hell onto that plane headed for Alaska. Even still, I'm thankful I was able to come home to Utah when I did and I couldn't have timed it better if I had tried. Having so many true friends and family in distress like this would have proved too hard to handle thousands of miles away.

That being said, I couldn't be happier being home with Fish in our beautiful cocoon surround by snow in freezing weather. I appreciate every moment of everyday, as life is short.

Always speak your mind, always love instead of hate and be grateful for the little things and big people in your life.

Loves,

Liz
